India Education Summit 2022

• Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan delivered the keynote address at the India Education Summit 2022, on 6 April 2022.
• The summit is a dialogue platform by Google and Indian Express.
• The two-day summit included discussions on technology intervention in government education, personalised education, keeping kids safe online and more.

Ramdarash Mishra selected for Saraswati Samman 2021

• Noted poet and litterateur Prof Ramdarash Mishra will be awarded the prestigious Saraswati Samman, 2021, for his collection of poems ‘Mein to Yahan Hun’.
• Instituted in 1991, Saraswati Samman is given every year to an outstanding literary work written in any Indian language by an Indian citizen and published within the last 10
• It carries a citation, a plaque, and cash prize of ₹15 lakhs

Parliament passes Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order Bill, 2022

• Parliament has passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill,
• The Bill amends the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 for the inclusion of a certain community in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Tripura.
• It also seeks to include Kharwar, Deshwari, Ganjhu, Dautalbandi (Dwalbandi), Patbandi, and Raut in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Jharkhand.

Parliament passes Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill 2022

• Parliament has passed the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill
• It seeks to allow investigators to collect certain identifiable information of convicts for purposes of identification and investigation in criminal matters.
• It replaces the Identification of Prisoners Act,
• The bill has been brought in to ensure that police and investigators remain two steps ahead of criminals

India, Israel conclude bilateral workshop on Quantum Technologies

• India and Israel on 6 April 2022, concluded a 2-day bilateral workshop on Quantum Technologies (I2QT-2022).
• It was organized by the DRDO and DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) along with IIT Delhi.
• The objective was to deliberate on quantum technologies, evolve a joint quantum technology roadmap and plan for developing technologies by collaboration between both countries.

International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda

• On 7 April, UNESCO commemorates the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
• The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2003
• The date marks the beginning of the genocide perpetrated against members of the Tutsi minority by the Hutu extremist-led government.
• In just over 100 days, more than 1 million Tutsi were systematically murdered.

World Health Day : 7 April

“Kaval Uthavi” Mobile Application

• On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, a “Kaval Uthavi” mobile application with more than 60 features has been introduced in order to provide immediate assistance to the public, especially women, during emergencies.

• India’s Monica defeats former world champion Josie Kapuko of the Philippines in the women’s 48kg weight category at the Thailand Open boxing tournament.

Medical Conference in Chennai

• The International Conference of Medical Practitioners and Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, UK is scheduled to take place in Chennai next October.

Judge Murugesan Panel

• A committee has been set up on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to formulate a separate education policy for Tamil Nadu
• A panel headed by former Chief Justice of the New Delhi High Court T. Murugesan has been set up to study the formulation of a new education policy in Tamil Nadu.

India’s Best Children’s Hospital Award

• Kanchi Kamkodi Children’s Trust Hospital has been selected as the best pediatric hospital in India.
• This recognition is due to the excellent services, medical facilities and treatment structure of the hospital

Government says, percentage of women in Resarch & Development is 16.6% among total number of scientists working in Science &Technology organizations

• Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh said that percentage of women in R&D is 6% among total number of scientists working in S&T organizations.
• In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, according to the latest report on ‘Research & Development Statistics’ of National Science & Technology Management Information System (NSTMIS), Department of Science and Technology, there are 56,747 women scientists directly engaged in R&D activities out of total 42 lakh R&D personnel at various Research & Development (R&D) establishments.
