Indian Golf players in Tokyo Olympics:

- Tokyo Olympics or 2020 Summer Olympics is going to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Event was postponed in March 2020 because of COVID-19 pandemic

- As per the report, in India, the number of deaths per year due to abnormal hot temperature is 83,700
- As per the report, in India, the number of deaths per year due to abnormal cold temperature is 6,55,400.
Madurai Jasmine:
- Geographical Indication certified Madurai Malli (Jasmine), and other traditional flowers like lily, button rose, chamanthi, and marigold were exported to United States and United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Tamil Nadu, India.
- These flowers were collected and exported by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA)
- The scientific name of Jasmine is “Jasminum Officinale”.

- Sustainable Development Goals Report 2021 was published by UN department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)

Zika Virus cases reported in Kerala:
- Kerala has officially confirmed its first case of Zika virus, which is a mosquito-borne viral infection
- Virus infected persons collected samples to Indian Institute of Virology, Pune.
- Zika Virus belongs to Flaviviridae. The main causative agent of Zika virus is Aedes mosquitoes.
- As per the World Health Organization (WHO), the Zika virus is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that was first detected in monkeys in Uganda in 1947.
Crimes against Women’s rises in Delhi:
- As per the recent report by the Delhi police, the crimes against the women’s in the National capital has been raise to 63.3% as compared to last year.
- Rape cases have increase from 580 in June 2020 to 833 in 2021, accounting for an increase of 43%.
- Molestation cases have surged from 733 to 1022, accounting for 39% surge for same period
Pollution rises in Indian Cities:
- As per the recent report of “Green Peace”, a non-government organization, the “Nitrogen Di-Oxide” pollution level has been significantly rises in 8 big cities of India.
- Study analysed NO2 concentrations in India’s eight most populous cities namely, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Lucknow.

Kappa variant detected in Uttar Pradesh:
- Covid-19 recent variant “Kappa” has been detected in Uttar Pradesh.

Ministry of Defence implements “SPARSH”:
- Ministry of Defence launches a automated pension system for Defence Pensioners called “SPARSH”.
- It is an automated system for sanction and disbursement of pension, which credits pension directly to the individuals bank account
- SPARSH = SYSTEM FOR PENSION ADMINISTRATION RAKSHA.
India’s first Maritime Arbitration Centre:
- India’s first Maritime Arbitration Centre has been opened at Gift City, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
- Gujarat Maritime University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IFSCA (International Financial Services Centres Authority for setting up GIMAC (Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Centre)
Axis Bank’s “Power Salute” initiative:
- Axis Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Army at Army Headquarters, New Delhi to offer a defence service salary package to the latter under its “Power Salute” initiative.
Book “The Light of Asia” by Jairam Ramesh:
- Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, authored a book titled “The Light of Asis”, which is an epic bio-poem of Lord Gautama Buddha.
- Written and published by Sir Edwin Arnold in 1879, “The Light of Asia”, subtitled The Great Renunciation, is in the form of a narrative poem
Rail Service Agreement between India and Nepal:
- India and Nepal on July 9, 2021 signed a Letter of Exchange (LoE) to revise the 2004 India-Nepal Rail Services Agreement (RSA) and which will facilitate the import and export of goods through the Indian railway freight services.

- NASA’sCassini spacecraft detected an unusually high concentration of methane, along with carbon dioxide and dihydrogen, in Saturn’s moons.
Emvolio – Refrigeration device:
- Recently, the startup Blackfrog Technologies has developed Emvolio, a refrigeration device
- Emvolio is a portable, battery-powered medical-grade refrigeration device. It has a 2-litre capacity, enabling it to carry 30-50 vials.
11 people die of hunger each minute:
- 11 people die of hunger each minute and the number facing famine-like conditions around the globe has increased six times over 2020.
- In a report titled “The Hunger Virus Multiplies,” Oxfam informed that the death toll from famine outpaces that of COVID-19, which kills around seven people per minute.
First govt-run school in India to be part of satellite launch:
- The students will be launching 75 satellites as part of the 75th independence day celebrations, which will be held next year
- A government high school in Karnataka’s Malleshwaram is set to become the first state-run school in the country to be part of the programme to launch a satellite.
