MCL becomes the largest coal producing company in India
- The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has crossed 157 million tonnes (MT) in coal production in the financial year of 2021-22.
- It has become the leading coal-producing company in the country.
- On March 12, 2022, the company produced 62 lakh tonne of dry fuel which is the highest in a day during the current financial year (2022-2023) reaching 157.7 MT.

Gabriel Boric becomes Chile’s youngest President
- Former student leader Gabriel Boric was sworn in as Chile’s new President in March
- He has become the youngest President in the history of the South American nation.

Six Indian boxers clinch gold medal at ASBC Boxing Championships

- Nikita Chand (60kg) defeated Uldana Taubay of Kazakhstan.
- Yakshika (52kg) defeated Uzbekistan’s Rakhima Bekniyazova.
- With 21 medals in junior and 18 in the youth section, the Indian contingent has secured 39 medals at the tournament.
Lakhshay Sen wins silver medal at the German Open 2022
- India’s Lakshya Sen won a silver medal at the German Open 2022 on 13 March
- He lost the men’s singles final to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn. He lost 18-21, 15-21 in the final.
- Lakshya Sen has become the 1st Indian to clinch a silver medal at the Badminton World Federation BWF Superseries 300 German Open 2022
Rishabh breaks Kapil Dev’s record of fastest Test fifty by an Indian
- Rishabh Pant on 13 Mar’22 broke Kapil Dev’s 40-year-old record of fastest Test fifty by an Indian on the 2nd day of the Day/Night match against Sri Lanka.
- He cruised to his fifty in 28 balls in the 42nd over of second innings, Kapil Dev’s being a 30-ball half-century against Pakistan in
- He also set a world record for notching up the fastest fifty by a wicketkeeper-batter in Tests.

PM Modi dedicates National Defence University to the nation
- PM Narendra Modi, on 12 March 2022, dedicated the National Defense University to the nation and addressed its first convocation at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- National Defense University provides students with different academic courses related to policing and internal security.
- These include courses such as police science and management, criminal law and justice, cyberpsychology, etc.
International Conference on Unani Medicine
- As part of Unani Day 2022 celebrations, a two-day International Conference on Unani Medicine has been organized at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
- “Diet and Nutrition in Unani Medicine for Good Health & Well-being” was the theme of the two-day international conference.

- March 14 is marking the 143rd birth anniversary of Nobel Prize winning physicist Albert Einstein.
- It is also celebrated as Pi Day.
- It was mathematician Archimedes of Syracuse, born in 287 BC, who first calculated the value of the Pi.
- In November 2019, in its General Conference, UNESCO, announced Pi Day as the International Day of Mathematics.
