“Bangabandhu Chair” in Delhi University:
- Delhi University will have a ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ to foster better understanding of developments in Bangladesh. A MoU was signed between the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Delhi University in Dhaka on Monday to set up this Chair at Delhi University.
- Mujibur Rahman was born on 17th March 1920 in Tungipara, India (now in Bangladesh) and passed away on 15th August 1975 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was a Bengali leader who became the first prime minister of Bangladesh (1972–75) and later became the president of the same in 1975.
UEFA EURO 2020 Cup Won by Italy:
- Italy beat England 3-2 on penalties after the Euro 2020 final ended 1-1 following extra time at Wembley Stadium to secure their second European Championship title.
- The GOLDEN BOOT AWARD of the series was awarded to Portugal’s star player Cristina Ronaldo.
ICC Player of the Month of June:
- The International Cricket Council (ICC) selects and announces the best cricketers each month.
- ICC Player of the Month for June = New Zealand’s Devon Conway
- ICC Women Player of the Month of June = Sophie Ecclestone of England.
Khelo India Youth Games 2021:
- The Haryana State Government is planning to hold the Khelo India Youth Games in February, 2021
- The games for the under-18s, which were scheduled to be held in November this year, have been shifted to February next year due to the corona.
Assam to create new department for indigenous faith and culture:
- On behalf of the Government of Assam, the Department has developed the concept of “Faith, Culture and Traditions of Indigenous and Indigenous Communities” in order to protect the indigenous peoples there.
- The new department says it will protect the faith and heritage of the tribal people in the state and provide them with the support they need.
Cristiano Ronaldo wins Golden Boot Award:
- Italy wins the final of the Euro Cup Football Cup.
- The “Golden Boot Award” for the best player at the end of the Euro Cup was given to the star player of the Portuguese team, “Cristino Ronaldo”.
- He played in four matches and scored a total of 5 goals.
A book titled “The Art of Conjuring Alternate Realities”:
- The book, “The Art of Conjuring Alternate Realities: How Information Warfare Shapes Your World”, by Sivam Shankar Singh and Anand Venkatanarayanan, is published by HarperCollins.
- The book deals with human history, social control determined by various stages.
Om Cheri N. N. Pillai receives Bahrain Keralite Society Literary Award:
- The Bahrain Keralite Society Literary Award, for life time contributions to Malayalam Literature, as well as language of this year Awarde to Prof. Om Cheri N.N. Pillai
- ” Om Cheri N.N. Pillai is a veteran and has contributed much to the Malayalam Theatre literature also, through his works like “Thevarude Aana”, “Pralayam” and several one act plays as well as short plays.

- HarperCollins announces the release of The Struggle Within: A Memoir of the Emergency by Ashok Chakravarti.
- The book deals about The Emergency (1975-1977) was one of independent India’s darkest hours. Over 150,000 people were imprisoned without trial; as many as eleven million forcibly sterilized; and countless killed in police firings or otherwise eliminated
SwabSeq technique:
- A team of scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have reported real-world results on SwabSeq, a testing platform that uses sequencing to test thousands of samples at a time to detectCovid-19.
- SwabSeq uses sample-specific molecular barcodes to simultaneously analyse thousands of samples for the presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2.
India to host 2026 World Badminton Championship:
- The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has announced that India will host the 2026 World Badminton Championships.
- India, which hosted the World Championships in 2009, is set to host the tournament for the second time in 2026.
BrahMos missile test failed:
- The BrahMos supersonic ship missile test carried out off the coast of Odisha failed. And the missile crashed shortly after takeoff.
- The extended range version of the missile was tested, which is capable of hitting targets up to 450
Indian Navy receives 10th P-8I aircraft:
- Indian Navy has received its tenth P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine aircraft from Boeing. This is the second aircraft to be delivered under the contract for four additional aircraft.
- The P-8I aircraft is known for its unmatched maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities and it has been deployed to assist during disaster relief and humanitarian missions.
Nepal’s new Prime Minister appointed by Apex Court:
- After months of power tussle in Nepal, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli was finally grounded on July 12, 2021, as the country’s Supreme Court, in a landmark verdict, directed President Bidya Devi Bhandari to appoint Nepali Congress Chief Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister of the country by July 13.
- The apex court also reinstated the dissolved House of Representatives for the second time in 5 months
Launch of 16 new National Highway projects in Manipur:
- Central Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for 16 new national highway projects in Manipur. 4148 crore has been allocated for the construction of 298 km of roads.
- Newly opened highway projects in Manipur are to be constructed to connect the north eastern state with other parts of India and neighbouring countries, and adapting to the climate.
Kerala to launch Mathru Kavacham campaign:
- Government of Kerala announces coronavirus vaccination for all pregnant women in the state by starting a campaign “Mathru Kavacham”.
- The state government has announced that a special camp will be organized at the district level for this purpose.
Former Cricketer Yashpal Sharma passes away:
- Yashpal Sharma, a member of the Indian Cricket team that had won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, passed away due to a heart attack on July 13, 2021, at the age of 66
- The former Indian batsman had played 37 tests, 42 ODIs, and 160 first-class matches. Yashpal Sharma was also the second-highest run-getter for the Indian cricket team at the 1983 World Cup
Chris Gayle hits 14000 runs in T-20:
- Chris Gayle, the star player of the West Indies, has become the first player in the world to score 14000 runs in international T20 matches.
