Lok Sabha passes Scheduled Tribes Constitutional Amendment Bill 2022

  • The Lok Sabha has passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2022 on 28 Mar’
  • The bill seeks to amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 for the inclusion of certain communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Tripura.
  • The Bill proposes to “Darlong” community as a sub-tribe of “Kuki” in the list of Scheduled Tribes.

Pranay Patil launches his first book, Burgundy Winters in Europe

  • Social activist and author, Pranay Patil has launched his first book, “Burgundy Winters in Europe.” on 29 March
  • “Burgundy Winters in Europe” tells the story of American rockstar Jace Tanner as he deals with the repercussions of his party lifestyle.
  • The novel released by an England-based publishing house, Crystal Peake.

Assam, Meghalya sign historic MoU to resolve 50yr old boundary dispute

  • Assam and Meghalaya governments on 29 March’22 signed a historic agreement to resolve their 50-year-old pending boundary difference.
  • The agreement was signed by the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • The long-standing land dispute was sparked in 1972 when Meghalaya was carved out of Assam

Star Air awarded as Best Domestic Airline (RCS) at Wings India 2022

  • Star Air, the aviation arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, won the prestigious award for Best Domestic Airline (RCS) by Wings India

  • It was launched at an event organized by NITI Aayog and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN.
  • Published by Springer, the book captures the outcomes of the deliberative process of a national dialogue by NITI Aayog.

SWR Railway wins the 58th All India Railway Road Cycling Championship

  • South Western Railway (SWR) Cycling Team has won the 58th All India Railway Road Cycling Championship held at Bikaner on 28 Mar’
  • Shri Venkappa K clinched the Gold medal, Shri Anil Manglaw, the Silver and Shri Sachin Desai secured 4th place in 100 km Road race.
  • South Western Railway Team has won the Championship clinching One Gold and Four Silver medals.

Highest selfmade Billionaires under 40

  • Hurun Research Institute has released the Hurun Global Forty and Under Self-Made Billionaires 2022, which ranks the self-made billionaires in the world (in terms of US dollar) aged forty years and under.
  • The Hurun Report 2022 lists 87 Self-Made Billionaires in the world aged 40 and under, which is up by 8 from last year.
  • The USA leads the list with 37 self-made billionaires.
  • China is second with 25 billionaires, followed by United Kingdom (8), India (6) and Sweden (3) respectively in top five.
  • Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the world’s richest selfmade billionaire aged 40 and under with total wealth of $76 billion.

Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre

  • The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal inaugurated the Indian Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX) building in Dubai, UAE on March 29, 2022, during his visit to Dubai to participate in the India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020.
  • During the launch of IJEX, the minister called upon the export members of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to go for USD 100 billion export target annually from the current USD 35 billion.
  • IJEX will be a one-stop destination for the world to source Indian jewellery in Dubai and the platform will enable GJEPC members to display goods and book orders throughout the year.

‘Museum of all former Prime Ministers of India’

  • A museum of all former Prime Ministers, Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya (the Museum of Prime Ministers), has been built at Teen Murti Estate, in Delhi.
  • The Rs. 270 crore project will be inaugurated on April 14, 2022 at Teen Murti Bhavan complex which was residence of ex-PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
  • The Museum will showcase the life, times and contribution of all 14 Prime Ministers of India so far, except for the collections and works on Jawaharlal Nehru, who has a separate Nehru Memorial Museum, which was also his residence.
  • The PMs Museum project was approved in 2018, and deadline for its completion was October 2020, but faced delays due to pandemic-related lockdowns, as well as civil works and contentcuration issues

Canada qualified for its first FIFA World Cup in 36 years

  • Canada beat Jamaica 4-0 to qualify for FIFA World Cup 2022, their first qualification in 36 years.
  • The United States and Mexico will have to wait to learn their fate along with Costa Rica.
  • The United States got a hat-trick as they beat Panama 5-1, while Mexico managed to pull of a 1-0 win against Honduras after a 70th- minute goal.

20th National Para Athletics Championship

  • 20th National Para Athletics Championship began at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on 28th March 2022.
  • “For the first time, 25 per cent of women players are participating. This event will help in grooming new talent for games like the Asian Para Games,” said the President, Paralympic Committee of India.
  • The three-day event will run from March 28 to March 31 and will witness 1200 athletes representing different states, with a record number of women on the roster.
  • As per the Paralympic Committee of India state wise enrolment statistics, there are around 763 athletes with physical disabilities, 153 Visually Impaired athletes, 44 athletes with Cerebral Palsy, 7 athletes with Intellectual Disabilities and 20 short stature athletes.

TEJAS Skilling Project

  • Recently, Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur launched TEJAS (Training for Emirates Jobs And Skills), a Skill India International Project to train overseas Indians
  • It is a Skill India International Project to train overseas Indians
  • TEJAS stands for Training for Emirates Jobs And Skills.
  • The project is aimed at skill enhancement, certification and overseas employment of Indians

Earth Hour 2022

  • Earth Hour has observed at 8.30 pm on 26 March 2022 with people worldwide switching off non-essential electric lights for an hour to raise awareness about energy conservation.
  • Earth Hour is observed on the last Saturday in March.This movement began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, as a symbolic event by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
