  • On 31 Mar’22, HarperCollins India has published the book “the Tiger of Drass, Capt. Anuj Nayyar, 23, Kargil Hero” by Meena Nayyar and Himmat Singh Shekhawat.
  • The book captures Anuj’s journey of barely twenty-three years from a reserved but righteous child to a gem of a military professional.
  • Anuj Nayyar was awarded India’s 2nd-highest gallantry award, the Maha Vir Chakra, in 2000.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands become Covid-19 free

  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands has become a Covid-19 free Union Territory on 31 Mar’
  • This UT has zero active cases.
  • No case of Covid-19 was reported on 30 Mar’22, while a single patient recovered.
  • Now, four UTs have achieved the Covid free status.

EAM Jaishankar meets UK’s foreign Minister, hold tks on Roadmap-2030

  • External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on 31 Mar’22 held bilateral consultations with his UK counterpart Liz Truss.
  • They conducted the annual strategic review of the Roadmap 2030 which was agreed between the Prime Ministers during he India-UK Virtual Summit
  • Both Ministers also participated in the inaugural edition of the India-UK Strategic Futures Forum.

Doordarshan FreeDish becomes largest DTH platform to reach 43 million

  • As per the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, DD FreeDish has become the largest DTH platform reaching over 43 million households till March
  • Prasar Bharati’s DTH service DD FreeDish is the only Free-to-Air service where the viewer doesn’t have to pay.
  • It only requires a small one-time investment of about ₹2,000 for purchasing the Doordarshan FreeDish set-top box.

CJI launched software ‘FASTER’ to transmit court orders swiftly

  • Chief Justice of India N.V.Ramana launches ‘FASTER’ software to transmit court orders swiftly on 31 Mar’
  • The digital platform FASTER stands for ‘Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records’.
  • The platform would be used by the court officials to instantly to send e-copies of the orders through a secured electronic communication channel to intended parties.

Central Govt announces AFSPA relaxations in Nagaland, Assam, Manipur

  • Union Govt has decided to reduce disturbed areas under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Nagaland, Assam and Manipur on 31 Mar’
  • AFSPA act, 1958 provides certain special powers to a member of the Armed Forces in areas in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
  • The law was first introduced by the Britishers to suppress the Quit India Movement.

Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra to co-develop 5G use cases in India

  • Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra on 31 Mar’22 announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and market 5G use cases in India.
  • Airtel and Tech Mahindra will set up a joint 5G innovation lab for developing ‘Make in India’ use cases for the domestic and global markets.
  • Both companies will initially focus on segments such as automobiles, aviation, ports, utilities, chemicals and oil & gas

Prevention of Blindness Week 2022 : 1-7 April 2022

  • Prevention of Blindness Week 2022 is celebrated by the Government of India from 1st April to 7th of April, to spread awareness about Blindness.
  • National Society for the Prevention of Blindness Week was founded in 1960 with Jawaharlal Nehru and Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur being its founding patrons.
  • Prevent Blindness has declared 2022 the “Year of Children’s Vision.”

NDDB organizes National Conclave on ‘Production of Bees Wax’

  • National Conclave on “Production of Bees Wax” was organized by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Gujarat in collaboration with the National Bee Board (NBB), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on 30th Mar’22
  • The objective of this National Conclave is to create awareness about the production of Bee Wax
  • NDDB, NAFED &TRIFED have been identified as implementing agencies under NBHM

Startups Founders Hub

  • Tech giant Microsoft launched a new digital and inclusive platform for startup founders in India on March 31, 2022.
  • The platform called as ‘Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub’ in India, will support startup founders in India at every stage of their startup journey.
  • This platform will offer over USD 300,000 worth of benefits and credits to startups, including free access to the technology, tools, and resources from the tech giant and partners.

Deadline set by RBI for banks to implement lockable cassettes swap

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had advised banks to consider using lockable cassettes in their ATMs, which shall be swapped at the time of cash replenishment.
  • Banks were directed to implement the lockable cassette swap in a phased manner, such that at least one-third ATMs operated by them is covered every year, while all ATMs achieve cassette swap by March 31, 2021.
  • However, this deadline was later extended to March 31, 2022.
  • Further, upon receiving representations from various banks for facing difficulties in meeting the timeline, RBI has further extended the timeline for implementation of cassette swap in all ATMs by a year till March 31, 2023.

Chairman of Payments Council of India

  • Vishwas Patel has been re-elected as the Chairman of Payments Council of India (PCI) for the second time in 2022, previously he was elected as a Chairman of PCI in the year 2018.
  • In 2013, he served as Co-Chairman of PCI. PCI is a payments ecosystem industry body, and is a part of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). PCI aims to promote cashless transaction society and visions to grow digital payment in India.

5 female umpires for the first time in a World Cup final

  • For the first time in the history of world cricket, five women umpires have been appointed for the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup
  • GS Lakshmi from India is one of them.
  • She is the first female umpire on the International Jury. She was the first female umpire to officiate a one-day cricket match for men.
