What is Rabies?

• Rabies is a viral zoonotic disease affecting the central nervous system.
• It causes progressive and usually fatal inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.
• It is mainly transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, commonly through a bite or scratch.
• Dogs are responsible for approximately 99% of human rabies cases.
