20 Indian private universities and HEIs sign Goa Declaration
- Over 20 Indian private universities and higher educational institutions (HEIs) signed a ”Goa Declaration” at the conclusion of the threeday PACT2030 conclave, held in Goa in Mar 2022.
- The ”Goa Declaration” is the first of its kind academic declaration towards achieving the UN’s sustainable development goals.
- O P Jindal Global University, Alliance University, were among the signatories.
Karolina Bielawska from Poland crowned Miss World 2021
- Poland’s Karolina Bielawska has been crowned Miss Universe for the year 2021.
- The 70th edition of the event was held on 16 March 2022 night at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- This is the second Miss World title for Poland.
- Aneta Kręglicka it back in 1989 for the country.
- Miss USA Shree Saini, an Indian-American, emerged as the first runner-up.
Russians to launch ‘Rossgram’- a replacement of Instagram
- Russia has decided to launch Rossgram–a replacement of Instagram on March 28, 2022.
- Rossgram’s colour scheme and layout will bear a strong resemblance to Instagram.
- The website of Rossgram claims that the app will have additional features such as crowdfunding and paid access for some content.
- Facebook’s Instagram has been blocked in Russia.
DRDO builts a multi-storey facility for the flight control system
- DRDO has built a multi-storey facility for the flight control system in record 45 days.
- The 7-storey building will be equipped with facilities for developing avionics for fighter aircraft and flight control system (FCS) for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project.
- The cost of the project has been estimated at around ₹15,000 crores.

- Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani is Asia’s richest man with $103 billion wealth, according to Global Rich List report compiled by research platform Hurun.
- Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar has become the newest billionaire in India.
- Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani is the second richest man in India.
- The report titled ‘2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List’ ranked 3381 billionaires.
Filmmaker Steve McQueen honoured with Royal Knighthood
- Oscar-winning British director Steve McQueen received his knighthood on 16 March 2022 at Windsor Castle and will now be known in the UK as Sir Steve McQueen.
- Princess Anne presented the honour to him.
- McQueen became the first Black filmmaker to win an Oscar for best picture with ’12 Years a Slave’.
- He also won a BAFTA and Golden Globe for the film.
Manjeet Mann shortlisted for UK children’s book award
- Indian-origin author Manjeet Mann has been shortlisted for her children’s book ‘The Crossing’, for the UK’s prestigious Yoto Carnegie Medal.
- There are 7 more books shortlisted for the award.
- She has been previously shortlisted for the prize for her debut children’s novel ‘Run, Rebel’.
- ‘The Crossing’ is her second novel and recently won the 2022 Costa Children’s Book Award
