Chhattisgarh tops states with lowest unemployment rate in country

  • Chhattisgarh has been ranked 1st among states with the lowest unemployment rate in the country.
  • According to the latest data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, Chhattisgarh has registered an unemployment rate of 0.6% this March 2022, which is the lowest so far.
  • Haryana has the highest unemployment rate followed by Rajasthan.
  • The country’s unemployment rate stood at 7.6%.

  • The 2022 Grammy Awards took place on 3 April 2022 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
  • ‘We Are’ by Jon Batiste won Album of the Year.
  • ‘I Still Have Faith in You’ by ABBA won Record of the Year.
  • ‘Sour’ by Olivia Rodrigo won Best Pop Vocal Album.
  • ‘Starting Over’ by Chris Stapleton won Best Country Album.

Indian-American singer Falguni Shah wins Best Children’s Music Album

  • Indian-American singer Falguni Shah, who goes by the stage name Falu, won the Best Children’s Music Album for ‘A Colourful World’, at the Grammy Awards 2022.
  • Love for Sale by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
  • Jack Antonoff won Producer of the Year, NonClassical.
  • Olivia Rodrigo won Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Drivers License’

Viktor Orban wins new term as Hungary’s Prime Minister

  • Viktor Orban won a fourth consecutive and fifth overall term as Prime Minister of Hungary on 3 April 2022.
  • He is already the longest-serving head of government in the European Union.
  • He has been serving as the PM since 2010 and previously held the office from 1998 to 2002.
  • Hungary is a country in Central Europe and its capital is Budapest.

International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action

  • April 4 is observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.
  • The day was declared by the UN General Assembly on 8 December
  • The mine action community around the world is led by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
  • The theme for 2022 is “Safe Ground, Safe Steps, Safe Home”.

Ann Mariya wins gold medal at National Weightlifting Championship

  • Ann Mariya M.T. won the women’s +87kg gold medal with a national record-making aggregate of 231kg on the concluding day of the National weightlifting championships in March
  • The finals were held at the KIIT University campus in Bhubaneswar.
  • Gurdeep Singh created snatch (172kg), clean and jerk (221kg) and total (391kg) records to win the men’s +109kg gold medal.

ICC Women’s World Cup: Australia lifts title for the seventh time

  • Australia was crowned the winner of the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, on 3 April
  • This was their seventh title.
  • Australia defeated England in the final by 71 runs at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand.
  • Alyssa Healy became the first batter in the history of the game to hit a hundred in the semi-final and the final of World Cup.

Indian Coast Guard inducts interceptor boat ‘C-436’ at Karaikal

  • The Indian Coast Guard unit has inducted interceptor boat ‘C-436’, at Karaikal.
  • It has been rebased from Andhra Pradesh station to its fleet to improve surveillance along the coastline of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
  • It will have one officer and 12 enrolled personnel as crew and will be deployed in the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of the Coast Guard Station in Karaikal.

258th raising day of Army Medical Corps: 3 April 2022

  • The Army Medical Corps (AMC) celebrated its 258th raising day on 3 April
  • The Corps has the motto of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” meaning “Let all be free from disease and disability”.
  • It is a specialist corps in the Indian Army which primarily provides medical services to all Army personnel, serving and veterans, along with their families.

Anurag Singh Thakur launches new rare chemical Reference Materials

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur launched six new and rare Reference Materials (RMs) on 3 April
  • They have been developed by National Dope Testing Laboratory with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Guwahati.
  • These are the purest form of chemical required for anti-doping analysis in all WADA accredited laboratories across the world.

Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane on 3-day visit to Singapore

  • Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane left for Singapore on a three-day visit from 4-6 April
  • The visit aims to further enhance existing defence relations between India and Singapore.
  • He will lay a wreath at the Kranji War Memorial tomorrow.
  • He will also visit the Infantry Gunnery Tactical Simulation and Wargame Centre, Regional HADR Coordination Centre, etc.

“Shakuntala” satellite

  • The Indian Spacetech startup Pixxel [Headquarter- Bengaluru] launched its first commercial satellite called `Shakuntala’ in April 2022.
  • The full-fledged commercial satellite was launched onboard Falcon9 rocket of Elon Musk-run SpaceX from Cape Canaveral in the US.
  • The launch took place under SpaceX`s Transporter-4 mission.
  • The ‘Shakuntala’ satellite is a low-orbit imaging satellite, installed with one of the highest-resolution hyperspectral commercial cameras ever flown to space.

‘The Indian Antarctic Bill 2022’

  • Union Minister Jitendra Singh on April 1, 2022, introduced ‘The Indian Antarctic Bill’ in Lok Sabha in order to provide a regulatory framework for India’s research activities in the Antarctic.
  • The Indian Antarctic Bill, 2022, introduced in Lok Sabha is pursuant to India’s accession to Antarctic Treaty, 1959 as well as the Protocol on Environment Protection (Madrid Protocol) to the Antarctic Treaty.
  • The Indian Antarctic Programme was initiated in 1981 with the first Indian expedition to Antarctica

105th country to join International Solar Alliance – Nepal

  • Nepal signed a framework agreement to join the India-led International Solar Alliance. It is the 105th country to join ISA.
  • Antigua and Barbuda joined International Solar Alliance as 102nd member.
  • United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) granted observer status to International Solar Alliance by adopting resolution 76/123.
  • USA becomes 101st member country of International Solar Alliance (ISA).

First broad-gauge passenger rail link between India and Nepal

  • 35-km cross-border railway line linking Jaynagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Nepal.
  • This is the first broad-gauge passenger rail link between the two sides.
  • The inaugural run of a train was flagged off on this line with a capacity of 1,000
