  • The two-day-long Study in India (SII) 2022 meeting was inaugurated in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • The event organised by the High Commission of India was inaugurated by the Education Minister of Bangladesh Dr Dipu Moni and the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami.
  • The Study In India programme is a flagship project launched by the Ministry of Education in The programme is designed to encourage the global student community to pursue higher education in India.

  • The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has inaugurated India’s largest floating solar power plant at Thoothukudi
  • The floating solar plant, set up at a cost of Rs 150 crore and Rs 40 lakh, will generate 0 million (22 megawatt) units of electricity.

Ninth edition of Sri Lanka-India naval exercise SLINEX begins

  • 9th Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise SLINEX began on 7 Mar 2022 in Visakhapatnam.
  • The exercise will be conducted in two phasesthe harbour phase at visakhapatnam on March 7 and 8, followed by the sea phase on March 9 and 10 in the Bay of Bengal.
  • Sri Lankan Navy will be represented by SLNS Sayurala, an advanced offshore patrol vessel, and the Indian Navy by INS Kirch, a guided missile corvette.

Continuation of Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojanya (SSSY) approved

  • The Government has approved the continuation of the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana (SSSY) and its components beyond 31 Mar 2021 for the Financial Years 2021-22 to 2025-26.
  • It will have a total financial outlay of Rs.3,274.87 crore.
  • Freedom fighters and their eligible dependents have been sanctioned the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension.
  • Dearness Relief is also been given since 2016

Government launches Donate-a-Pension programme

  • The government has launched Donate-aPension programme.
  • It is an initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) pension scheme.
  • Under the program, workers in the unorganised sector with the age group of 18 to 40 years can register themselves and deposit a minimum of 660 to 2400 rupees every year depending on their age.

Special Entrepreneurship Promotion Drive for Women named – “SAMARTH” has been launched by

  • Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has launched a Special Entrepreneurship Promotion Drive for Women named – “SAMARTH”.
  • The drive was launched by Union Minister for MSME, Shri Narayan Rane along with Minister of State for MSME, Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma in New Delhi.
  • Objective of SAMARTH: to provide Skill Development and Market Development Assistance to women and to train more than 7500 women candidates from rural and suburban areas in the FY 2022-23.

  • The India Global Forum (IGF) at Bengaluru will be held on 7th and 8th March
  • IGF is the agenda-setting forum for international business and global leaders.
