Mughal Dynasty in India

The founder of Mughal rule in India = Babur.
The Mughals are also referred to as “Timurids” due to their lineage connections with Timur.
However, the name ‘Mughal’ is derived from the Mongol language.
Historically, the Mughals were descendants of two great lineages: those of Genghis Khan and Timur.
The first Mughal ruler = Babur.
The last Mughal ruler = Bahadur Shah Zafar (died in Rangoon).

Mughal rule lasted from 1526 AD to 1857 AD.
The ancestral origin of the Mughals = Turkey.
The region ruled by Babur before coming to India = Fergana (in present-day Uzbekistan).
The person who invited Babur to invade India = Daulat Khan, the then Governor of Punjab.
The period in medieval India when art and culture flourished = The Mughal era.
Battle that laid the foundation for Mughal rule = First Battle of Panipat (1526 AD)
Battle that put an end to the rule of the Delhi Sultans = First Battle of Panipat (1526 AD)
