India, WHO sign pact to set up Global Medicine Centre in Gujrat

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of India on 25 Mar’22 signed an agreement to establish Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Gujarat.
  • The centre will be set up at Jamnagar with its interim office at the Institute of Training and Research in Ayurveda in Gujarat.
  • The primary objective of GCTM is to harness the potential of traditional medicine from across the world.

EAM S. Jaishankar on 4-day visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka

  • External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar is on a four-day official visit to the Maldives and Sri Lanka from March 26-30,
  • Jaishankar will be visiting the Addu city in the Maldives, during which he will call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
  • The visit will see the signing of several agreements related to the bilateral development cooperation.

Shipping ministry initiates green port project to cut carbon emissions

  • The shipping ministry has launched the green port project for reducing carbon emissions of the maritime industry that contributes to 1% of the overall transport sector emissions on 25 Mar’

Indias first Aluminium body metro train manufactured by Titagarh Wagon

  • India first light-weight, aluminium-body coaches made for Metro train was flagged off at an event held at Kolkata on 26 Mar22.
  • Maha-Metro has started Metro train service on two routes in Pune from PCMC to Phugewadi and Vanaz to Garware College.
  • The first two trains have arrived from (Titagarh Firema) TFA Italy and the remaining trains are being manufactured in India at TWL factory, Kolkata.
