CINCAN visits Amphibian Brigade:

  • Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) Lieutenant General Ajai Singh visited the Amphibian Brigade at Birchgunj Military Station on July 06, 2021
  • He reviewed operations at the Jungle Survival School and inspected various training activities, including driving an ALS through the landing ship ramp simulator at the Wave Generation Training Facility

India’s first sectoral indices in the agri-commodities:

  • The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), launched two agriculture-focused commodity indices.
  • These are India’s first sectoral indices in the agri-commodities space namely GAUREX and SOYDEX.
  • Guarex will track price movement in the futures contracts of its underlying Guar Seed and Guar Gum Refined Splits on a real-time basis.
  • Similarly, Soydex will follow the price changes in futures contracts of Soybean and Refined Soy Oil.

Competition for migrant workers:

  • Ganesan Sandhirakasan has won the top prize in a government-initiated competition for migrant workers for choreographing and performing a sequence of Silambam – a traditional martial art form practised in India since the 4th century BC.
  • The series was made for migrant workers in Singapore and the final episode was aired on Monday night.

Global Forgiveness Day:

  • Global Forgiveness Day was observed every year on July 7th.
  • Global Forgiveness Day was established to create goodwill among people and allow them to stop carrying around so much guilt and pain in their lives
  • Global Forgiveness Day was founded in 1994 by the CECA (Christian Embassy of Christ’s Ambassadors)

World Population Day:

  • Every year on July 11, the world observes World Population Day with the goal of highlighting the difficulties created by overpopulation and raising awareness about how overpopulation may harm the ecosystem and progress of humanity
  • The United Nations Development Programme’s Governing Council created World Population Day in 1989. On July 11, 1987, the population day was prospected in the public attention, i.e., the Five Billion Day, or the estimated day when the world’s population surpassed five billion people

GI Certified Fazil Mango:

  • A consignment of Geographical Identification (GI) certified Fazil mango variety sourced from Malda district of West Bengal was exported to Bahrain
  • The consignment of Fazil mango was exported by APEDA registered DM enterprises, Kolkata and imported by Al Jazira group, Bahrain

Ashleigh Barty clinches maiden Wimbledon crown:

  • World number one Ashleigh Barty beat Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3 to clinch the women’s singles title at the Wimbledon Championships
  • Barty has become the first Australian woman to win Wimbledon women’s singles title since 1980.
  • Ashleigh Barty has become the 3rd Australian woman in the Open Era to win the Wimbledon singles title, after Margaret Court and Evonne Goolagong.

Uttar Pradesh Population Draft Bill, 2021:

  • The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission has prepared a proposed draft Bill for population control, under which a two-child norm will be implemented and promoted
  • The Commission has uploaded the proposed draft Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stabilisation and Welfare) Bill, 2021 and invited suggestions
  • After the law comes into force, a person with more than two children will be debarred from several benefits such as government-sponsored welfare schemes and from contesting elections to the local authority or any body of the local self-government, the draft says. Ration card units will be limited to four persons.

Navy prohibits flying of drones:

  • Indian Navy on Friday prohibited flying of non-conventional aerial objects like drones and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) within 3 kms of Naval Base, Naval Units and Naval assets
  • “Any non-conventional aerial object, including RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) found violating this prohibition, will be destroyed or confiscated without any liability, and additionally actions may be initiated under sections 121, 121A, 287, 336, 337 and 338 of Indian Penal Code against the operator”, a Defence statement said here.

Kerala Doyen of Ayurveda P.K. Warrier is no more:

TNPSC CURRENT AFFAIRS

  • Doyen of Ayurveda and managing trustee of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (KAS) Dr PK Warrier died on Saturday. He was 100.
  • In his lifetime spanning a century, he treated tens of thousands of patients from across the globe and his patients included former presidents and former prime ministers of India and abroad.
